I had great expectations for my pillow this month. I had a pattern for an Alaskan themed pillow, but the pattern leaves out Kodiak and due to the high Kodiak resident posters I thought I might offend someone! :o) I jokes. It was just a lot more than I had scraps or time for. :o) Maybe next time. I went with a pillow I've been meaning to get done for while now. I've had the pieces all ready to go. I added a few more and love this pillow. I've made it a couple of times.
Now on to the something old... My great, great aunt Jane made 7 pillows for my grandma. She gave five to her children and kept two for herself. A few years ago she gave me one of them. I love it. It's all hand stitched and totally vintage (made 40 years ago). It's great. Well last year she gave me her other one. I didn't have the heart to tell her she'd already given me one so I graciously accepted it. I felt it was a bit unfair to keep for myself because I already have one and I have many sisters that would want one too (there are five of us girls). So last night I carefully unstitched one of the pillows. It came off beautifully and in a great piece. I am going to frame it and give it to my sister Eva Jane for her wedding in April. I know she'll love it. Since it fits with our pillow theme I thought I'd post it. Someday I want to make a few for my family as well. They are called cathedral windows. ENJOY!
