Bleacher Pillow

Daughter Alison wanted a pillow for the bleachers during volleyball and basketball games.  Used up the last scraps of volleyball material I had.  I still have a little basketball material left.  I've made so many things out of volleyball material with all four girls having played in high school, it's kind of sad.

ginormous floor pillow

I have a lot of purple Minkee leftover from making my oldest daughter's crib bedding (almost 8 years ago!) so today it became a giant floor pillow for the girls to use when they watch TV. I actually have enough to make 2, but the 5 lb box of stuffing was only enough for one pillow. Tomorrow, I buy another box and stuff the other pillow. These are big enough to be dog beds! Oh well, at least the Minkee has a use now rather than being stuffed in a bag taking up space. This is Chloe (almost 5) posing with the one that got stuffed. -Cristyn

Chair Cushions -- out with the old, in with the new!

My fabric for my chair cushions finally arrived in the mail yesterday!
So I spent today making new cushions for my chairs.

2 summers ago I bought these ugly chair cushions from Walmart on clearance as a temporary fix until I had more time to make new ones.
blah...they are so boring! :)

Well, it has been almost a year and a half since those cushions were purchased, so I took the opportunity of 'pillows' to finally check a project off my list!

I spent the first two weeks of February spending endless hours on the computer browsing fabric websites searching for the perfect fabric.  It was such a hard decision as there were many I liked.  I finally went with the Pezzy Print by American Jane for Moda. Of course, it was green! :) and had a little pizazz to it!

The shape of the old cushion worked well in the chair so I removed all the stuffing and saved it to restuff in to the new cushions. I used the old fabric to make a pattern for the new fabric. This all went fairly quickly until I got to the part where I decided to make fabric covered buttons to hand-sew on to the cushions.   The sewing on is what took the longest! But now the buttons are on and I love the new cushions!
They spice up the kitchen table!

School Spirit Pillow

So I used an oversized t-shirt that I had from KHS and made a butt pillow to use at the games. Nothing fancy, but it will come in very handy. I have another pillow project I am working on for a friend, but it involves photos and 4 pillows, so it will be a long-term project. I'll post the finished product when I am done with them.

Mustache Pillow!

I am a little obsessed with mustaches! So I decided what better type of pillow to make! I just found a mustache I liked online printed it and enlarged it and cut the shape out! This one is for me & my friends birthday is coming up soon and she is sort of infactuated with mustaches also, so I have another one it just needs to be stuffed!!

potholders! - A day late, but finished!

FINALLY! i have finished my potholders! i have been super busy and have been putting of sewing the binding on my last potholder!  My first was just super simple but i had a melt-down when my pincher's (like stefanie's) weren't turning out! but i eventually decided to dive into another potholder! I found a heart pattern and tried it out! was actually super easy and turned out cute!

Heart Shaped Potholders

disclaimer:  I am not a fan of hearts in reality, but thought I would try this anyways.

I received this pattern from a woman in California probably 8 years ago.  She hand wrote the directions for me and included a partially finished and a finished potholder to show me how exactly they went together.  I was digging the mini-piping added to the edges of the cuffs and that she included hard plastic cutout pattern pieces.

All in all this was a super simple project and I was able to use scraps that I had on hand.... nothing like the last minute though.  :o)  They are not as ornate or fancy as some of the other potholders, but they will make a great Valentine's Day gift for someone.
